27 Amazing INFJ Anime Characters

Today we’re diving into the wonderful world of anime, specifically focusing on characters who exemplify the INFJ personality type. INFJs are one of the sixteen Myers-Briggs types, and their type code stands for  Introversion, iNtuition, Feeling, and Judging. Despite the rarity of INFJs in the real world, this personality type is well-represented with incredible characters in the anime universe. Join us as we delve into the complexities of these intriguing characters and the unique dynamics they bring to their respective series.

Now, I wish I could really profile these characters, but alas, there’s no technology advanced enough to bring anime characters into the real world! But wouldn’t that be cool? Either way, I have to be content with profiling from afar by watching these series. But there’s room for error when you’re typing characters because you really can’t ask them the most important questions in clarifying someone’s type. With that in mind, if you have a different suggestion, let me know in the comments!

#1 – Norman from The Promised Neverland

Norman from Promised Neverland is an INFJ

“I can’t afford to make a mistake. Because I can’t let anyone die. If I run away, the plan will deviate. If it deviates even a little, it’ll be problematic. I don’t even want a chance of losing. It’s pointless to argue. I won’t change my mind. I did what I can today. I’m leaving the rest to you.”

Don’t watch this show without a box of Kleenex handy (take my word for it). Norman is an orphan who is waiting until he can be adopted into his “forever family”….or so he thinks. One day the truth of his existence is revealed and he has to find a way to escape to freedom along with his siblings. Norman captures the strategic, long-range thinking of the INFJ as well as their empathy and “others first” focus. No matter how hard things get, Norman focuses on the welfare of the people around him rather than his own comfort. He’s able to outsmart nearly any opponent because of the complex, far-reaching plans he devises in his mind. His insight and understanding of others are far beyond his years (he’s only eleven!).

#2 – Izuku Midoriya from My Hero Academia

Izuku Midoriya from My Hero Academia is INFJ

“If you ever feel hopeless, make sure you let us know.”

Visionary and compassionate, Izuku Midoriya tailors his entire life around one goal:  to be a hero who brings hope and peace to all. In typical INFJ fashion, Midoriya (or “Deku” as he is often called) likes plenty of time to strategize his next move. Unfortunately, on the battlefield, that extra time isn’t always an option. Throughout the series, we see Midoriya come to grips with his inferior Extraverted Sensation and learn to react quickly in the moment against terrifying foes. Midoriya’s kindness, visionary focus, and strategic way of thinking are great examples of a healthy INFJ in superhero form.

#3 – Armin Arlert from Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan)

Armin Arlert from Attack on Titan is an INFJ

“When people are faced with a situation They don’t understand, it’s easy for fear to take hold.”

Invested in humanity’s future, Armin Arlert will do whatever it takes to make a positive impact on the world and protect his friends. While he may seem calculated on the battlefield, he is also deeply sensitive and empathetic. He struggles with killing, even when it’s the most logical thing to do. He often becomes visibly emotional after a fight that ends in bloodshed. He’s determined never to throw away his humanity or become numb to the pain of others – even his enemies.  If you’re an INFJ who struggles with shyness or low self-esteem, you’ll be inspired by Armin Arlert’s journey in the show as he grappled with the same struggles.

#4 – Kawora Nagisa from Neon Genesis Evangelion

Kawora Nagisa from Neon Genesis Evangelion is an INFJ

“Humans constantly feel pain in their hearts. Because the heart is so sensitive to pain, humans also feel that to live is to suffer. You’re so delicate, like glass, especially your heart.”

Kawora is an interesting choice for this article. He’s more of an angel than a human and doesn’t have a lot of screen time in the series. But here’s the thing: his demeanor screams INFJ. He’s all about understanding humanity and different perspectives. He’s warm and emotionally open, which makes Shinji feel at ease. And like all INFJs, he’s incredibly interested in human pain and loneliness, always trying to dig deeper into people’s feelings. Kawora’s curiosity and big-picture thinking are classic INFJ traits.

#5 – Naomi Misora from Death Note

Naomi Misora from Death Note is an INFJ

Naomi Misora is a former FBI agent who is famous for her strong investigative powers. Although she only has a small part in the Death Note series, her presence is still crucial. Misora has strong insights into other people – in this case, Light Yagami. Her ability to see beneath the surface allows her to rival even L in her deductive abilities. Although Misora is highly intelligent, her strong feelings can sometimes get in the way of her investigations. Like most INFJs, she feels things deeply – especially when it comes to the people she loves. Light Yagami knows this weakness and uses it to undermine her.

#6 – Sosuke Aizen from Bleach

Sosuke Aizen from Bleach is an INFJ

“Distance only has meaning In a fight between equals. With you And I, distance holds no meaning at all”

Polite and intellectual, Sosuke Aizen gives us a great example of a villainous INFJ. While Aizen seems friendly and kind on the outside, he hides a manipulative, calculating interior. The truth is that he will do anything to achieve his ambitions and goals, even if it means toying with people’s emotions or murdering them. Aizen sees life as a chess game, and it would be hard to decipher his plans without seeing the end product and backtracking to see how each action triggered another until the goal was achieved. He has a grand vision of how the world should be and manipulates people emotionally to get in line with his schemes. Unhealthy INFJs can adopt a similar “ends justifies the means” approach to life. While they may seem friendly and warm on the outside, they can hide more calculating, manipulative strategies underneath the surface. You can find out more about this character in Practical Typing’s personality analysis.

#7 – Itachi Uchiha from Naruto Shippuden

Itachi Uchiha from Naruto is an INFJ

“No Matter Who You Are, You Do Not Know What Kind Of Human You Are Until The Very End. As Death Comes To Embrace You, You Will Realize What You Are. That’s The View Of Death, Don’t You Think?”

If you’ve just started watching Naruto Shippuden you might be surprised at this typing of Itachi Uchiha. After all, in early episodes, he shows very little use of Extraverted Feeling (Fe). But as the show progresses and you learn more about Itachi’s backstory, you realize that he used Fe almost constantly when he was younger. Through various traumas, he eventually shut off that side of himself and appears to be in a Ni-Ti loop.  However, his Feeling side still shows up in how he constantly prioritizes being useful to others and elevating the greater good over his own good. As an INFJ he frequently ponders the meaning of life, death, and various patterns and potential outcomes. He’s constantly focusing on where events will lead and latches onto symbolism as a way of expressing himself.

#8 – Yuki Sohma from Fruits Basket

Yuki Sohma from Fruits Basket is an INFJ

There are things that I wanted. Things I pictured to myself. Parents who would hug me. A home I’d want to return to. A place where everyone smiled. A me that everyone wouldn’t leave… A warm place. A warm person. They really exist. They’re real.

Many INFJs will relate to the struggles that Sohma experiences in the social world at school. While on a surface level he appears kind and charming, he struggles with deep feelings of insecurity and loneliness. In typical INFJ fashion, he struggles to manage the sensory world around him. His room is often a disaster, and he makes practical mistakes regularly because he’s more involved with ideas and thoughts than the physical world around him. He craves friendships but often feels awkward and self-conscious instigating conversation. If you’re an INFJ who struggles with shyness, low self-esteem, or trauma in your past you may find him to be a very relatable character.

#9 – Mayuri Shiina from Steins;Gate

Mayuri Shiima is an INFJ anime character

“So this time it’s my turn, this is my first big mission as Lab Member 002!”

Childlike and innocent, Mayuri Shiina has a perceptiveness that would be easy to miss without looking closely. While many are distracted by her naïve demeanor, those who know her closely realize she’s very insightful about people. She also has a highly nuanced understanding of how people feel. She directly states that she can always tell what Okabe is thinking and feeling and why people ask for specific things. She also frequently speaks in analogies and metaphors (an example of Introverted Intuition) and is fixated on maintaining harmony and preventing conflict (an example of Extraverted Feeling).

#10 – Jinora from The Legend of Korra

Jinora from the Legend of Korra is an INFJ anime character

“She rode a dragon into battle and burned down the entire country, then she jumped into a volcano. It was so romantic.”

Quietly reserved and insightful, Jinora displays a great amount of courage and conviction. As an airbending master, she has a natural affinity for the spiritual world and is one of the only humans capable of communicating with spirits. Her natural insight into the spiritual world and human nature as a whole exemplifies an INFJ at their best. She is an excellent example of the INFJ counselor or mentor. Calm, patient, and wise about people – she knows how to guide people into the spirit world and sense their unique energies.

#11 – Future Trunks from Dragon Ball Z

Future Trunks from Dragon Ball Z is an INFJ anime character

“Life is not all about you.”

When it comes to INFJ anime characters, you can’t get much better than Future Trunks from the renowned “Dragon Ball” series. Trunks is a time-traveling warrior, who carries the weight of a desolate future on his shoulders. He exhibits the characteristic INFJ blend of quiet introspection and fiery resolve, constantly reflecting on the state of his world while also fiercely working to alter its grim prospects.

As an INFJ, Trunks embodies the introverted intuition that is characteristic of this personality type. He is deeply introspective, often contemplating the future and the actions needed to alter its course. His sense of morality, shaped by his ‘feeling’ trait, is profound; he demonstrates a strong empathy for others and excels in diplomatic communication; bringing people together, even those who used to be his enemies. Additionally, his ‘judging’ trait is evident in his visionary planning and methodical approach towards battling enemies, ensuring every move is calculated and purposeful. Unlike the impulsivity often seen in other Dragon Ball characters, Trunks’ actions are always cautious, intentional, and well thought out, a key attribute of his INFJ personality.

#12 – Nico Robin from One Piece

Nico Robin One Piece is an INFJ anime character

“My dream just had too many enemies”

Nico Robin, from the globally acclaimed anime series “One Piece,” is another character who encapsulates the INFJ personality type. Robin is an archaeologist and the seventh member of the Straw Hat Pirates. She is depicted as a calm, mature, and intelligent woman, who possesses an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and a deep-seated love for history. She is unique among her peers for her quiet introspection and her ability to see far beyond the surface, deciphering the truth amid layers of complexity.

As an INFJ, Nico Robin exemplifies the strengths of intuition and feeling. Her love for archaeology and history is rooted in her intuitive understanding of the world and its narratives, often picking up on patterns and meanings that others may overlook. More than anything, she wants to understand the unknown, to grasp what happened in the blank century. She notices hidden meanings and connections that others don’t. Although she’s very reserved, Nico’s Feeling side is displayed through her tact, sympathetic nature, and supportive demeanor. She has a keen ability to understand the emotional states of those around her, and she often provides support and guidance in a quiet, unassuming way.

#13 – Johan Liebert from Monster

Johan Liebert is an INFJ anime character

“There’s nothing special about being born. Not a thing. Most of the universe is just death, nothing more. In this universe of ours, the birth of a new life on some corner of our planet is nothing but a tiny, insignificant flash. Death is a normal thing. So why live?”

On the surface, Johan appears calm, charming, and incredibly intelligent. He presents a masterfully crafted image of perfection, which he uses to manipulate those around him. This facade is a masterclass in INFJ’s ability to read people and subtly influence them. However, beneath this charisma lies a nihilistic, destructive personality that sees no value in life itself. INFJs are known for their vision and focus on the big picture, and in Johan’s case, this manifests in a dark, chilling way. He orchestrates events that cause immense psychological suffering rather than simply carrying out direct violence. This twisted interpretation of Ni (Introverted Intuition) and Fe (Extraverted Feeling) exemplifies how even a typically compassionate personality type can become manipulative and destructive when unhealthy.

#14 – Koshi Sugawara (Haikyuu!!)

Koshi Sugawara is an INFJ anime character

“Slowly, I feel like I’m being strangled. Yet strangely, I feel calm because panic hasn’t affected my concentration just yet. That’s because our goal is so clear in front of us.”

Koshi Sugawara is the heart and soul of Karasuno’s volleyball team, consistently using his emotional intelligence to support and encourage his teammates. This might be why he has earned the nickname “Mom” from so many of his teammates. As a classic INFJ, he combines quiet observation with a nurturing spirit. Though he isn’t a starting player anymore, Sugawara never gives up on his role as a pillar of the team, guiding younger members and ensuring that no one feels left behind. His Fe shows up in his selflessness and dedication to the team’s collective goals, while his Ni helps him see long-term strategies and adapt his actions accordingly. Sugawara’s calm, soothing presence masks a deep determination, and his ability to lift others up perfectly embodies the INFJ’s natural role as a supportive counselor.

#15 – Yoichi Isagi (Blue Lock)

Yoichi Isagi from Blue Lock is an INFJ anime character

“You shouldn’t aim to be the one that gets chosen, but instead, the one that chooses.”

Isagi’s journey in Blue Lock showcases the growth of his INFJ traits over time. Initially, he’s unsure of his skills and lacks confidence, but his intuitive ability to read the field and analyze situations allows him to develop a clear vision. As he grows, Isagi becomes more assertive, learning to trust his insights and formulating strategic, calculated plays on the pitch. His Ni helps him see the bigger picture, while his Fe emerges in his ability to connect with teammates and bring out the best in them. As Isagi progresses through the series, his focus sharpens, and he learns to balance his ambition with his natural empathy.

#16 – Takashi Mitsuya (Tokyo Revengers)

Takashi Mitsuya is an INFJ anime character

Hakkai, no matter how hard things get, only use our strength to protect. Don’t hate the situation you’re born into, Hakkai.”

Mitsuya is a calm, level-headed individual with a deep sense of responsibility and care for those he loves. As a natural pacifist, Mitsuya embodies the INFJ Enneagram Nine’s tendency to avoid conflict unless absolutely necessary. His Ni allows him to see underlying motives and prevent unnecessary fights, while his Fe shines in the way he nurtures and supports his friends and younger siblings. Mitsuya’s determination to protect his loved ones, despite his tough upbringing, shows the strength of an INFJ’s commitment to their values and the people they care about. He balances his quiet wisdom with a strong moral compass, always pushing himself to use his power for good.

#17 – Fujinuma Satoru (Erased)

Fujinuma Satoru is an INFJ anime character

“If you don’t take that first step, a path won’t open for you.”

Satoru’s introspective nature and deep sense of guilt shape much of his personality. While he struggles with communication and understanding emotions early in the series, his journey back in time forces him to confront his shortcomings and act with compassion and foresight. As he seeks to fix his past mistakes, Satoru exemplifies an INFJ’s drive to help others and change the future. His Ni pushes him to explore long-term consequences, while his Fe compels him to connect with and protect the people around him. Satoru’s growth into a more empathetic, courageous individual is a classic INFJ story of self-reflection and redemption.

#18 – Ririka Momobami (Kakegurui)

Ririka Momobami (Kakegurui) is an INFJ anime character

Ririka is a classic example of an INFJ who hides behind a mask, both literally and figuratively. On the surface, she appears quiet, stoic, and emotionally distant, but beneath her reserved exterior lies a deeply sensitive and self-conscious individual. Raised in the shadow of her twin sister, Kirari, Ririka was forced to erase her identity and mimic Kirari’s behavior, leading to a profound lack of self-confidence. However, her keen perception and ability to read people’s motives are key aspects of her INFJ nature. Over time, Ririka begins to assert her independence, showing growth in her Fe (Extraverted Feeling) as she forms meaningful connections and learns to navigate the complex social world around her. Her journey toward self-discovery and the gradual emergence of her individuality reflect the INFJ’s internal struggle for identity and purpose

#19 – Tamayo (Demon Slayer)

Tamayo from Demon Slayer is an INFJ anime character

You still use… the term “person”… to refer to even a transformed demon. And you’re trying to save him. Allow me, then, to lend you a hand.

Tamayo is one of my favorite INFJ anime characters; compassionate, serene, insightful, and selfless. Despite being a demon, she retains her sense of morality, compassion, and conviction. Her gentle and caring demeanor is typical of INFJs, who often seek to use their abilities to heal and protect. However, Tamayo’s dark past and her intense hatred for Muzan Kibutsuji reveal the INFJ’s capacity for righteous anger when their values are violated. Her cunning plan to defeat Muzan highlights her Ni (Introverted Intuition), as she carefully strategizes and manipulates events from behind the scenes, all while maintaining her composed and nurturing exterior.

#20 – Albert James Moriarty (Moriarty the Patriot)

Albert James Moriarty is an INFJ anime character

“People seek love because they are imperfect. If perfection exists then there is no need for love.”

Albert embodies the INFJ’s complex blend of empathy and strategic foresight. Born into a corrupt noble family, Albert’s strong sense of justice drives him to rebel against the system that oppresses the common people. His deep care for his adoptive brothers, William and Louis, reveals his Fe, as he devotes his life to supporting their cause and ensuring their plans succeed. Despite his warm-hearted nature, Albert has no qualms about using violence to achieve his goals, showcasing the INFJ’s ability to sacrifice personal morality for the greater good when necessary. His internal struggle with guilt and his willingness to bear the burden of his family’s downfall exemplify the INFJ’s sense of responsibility and long-term vision.

#21 – Kagaya Ubuyashiki (Demon Slayer)

Kagaya Ubuyashiki (Demon Slayer) is an INFJ anime character

“I also believe something’s happening to Nezuko that Kibutsuji never saw coming.”

Kagaya is a serene and wise leader, beloved by his subordinates for his gentle and compassionate nature. As an INFJ, he shows a deep understanding of people’s emotions and motivations, treating the members of the Demon Slayer Corps as his own children. His calm demeanor and ability to inspire loyalty are hallmarks of his Fe, while his brilliant strategic mind and long-term planning reflect his Ni. Kagaya’s willingness to sacrifice his life and the lives of his family for the greater good underscores the INFJ’s tendency toward selflessness when faced with a cause they believe in. His deep hatred for Muzan, hidden beneath his composed exterior, reveals the INFJ’s capacity for fierce determination when defending their ideals.

#22 – Michiru Kaioh (Sailor Moon)

Michiru Kaioh (Sailor Moon) is an INFJ anime character

“I know about you more than you do, because I’ve always been watching you. You are the one person I don’t want to see walking the same path that I did. But when I realized that you were the one, I was happy.”

As Sailor Neptune, Michiru is graceful, calm, and highly intuitive, with a deep understanding of the emotions and motives of those around her. Her patience and empathy are evident in the way she interacts with her friends and allies, though her perfectionism and sometimes aloof demeanor can make her seem distant. Michiru’s intelligence and artistic talents reflect the INFJ’s natural affinity for creativity and abstract thinking, while her strong moral convictions and willingness to fight for the greater good highlight her Fe. Despite her calm and collected exterior, Michiru is deeply passionate about her ideals and the people she loves.

#23 – Kaoru Hitachin (Ouran High School Host Club)

Kaoru Hitachin (Ouran High School Host Club) is an INFJ anime character

“I don’t think we’ll be able to be together all the time the way we have been up until now…But I’ll always be cheering you on.”

Kaoru, the calmer and more introspective of the Hitachin twins, is a perfect example of an INFJ who values emotional depth and personal growth. Unlike his mischievous older brother, Hikaru, Kaoru is more attuned to the feelings of others and looks for raw, authentic interactions over shallow ones. His awareness of the co-dependent relationship between himself and Hikaru leads him to push for their emotional independence. While Kaoru enjoys playful banter and teasing, he is also deeply considerate of others, using his Fe to read the room and support his friends. His calm, insightful nature makes him the more mature of the two twins, always thinking ahead and considering the well-being of those he cares about.

#24 – Nozomi Tojo (Love Live! School Idol Project)

Nozomi Tojo (Love Live! School Idol Project) is an INFJ anime character

Nozomi is an INFJ who balances wisdom and mischief with grace. As the vice-president of the student council, she often takes on the role of a counselor, guiding her friends through their challenges with her keen insight and fortune-telling abilities. Her calm and collected demeanor reflects her Ni, while her deep care for her friends shows her strong Fe. Nozomi’s playful teasing and occasional perversion may seem out of character for an INFJ, but they reveal her ability to lighten the mood and bring people together, even in difficult times.

#25 – Kabru (Delicious in Dungeon)

Kabru, an INFJ anime character

Kabru is a driven INFJ whose deep sense of justice motivates his actions throughout Delicious in Dungeon. His ability to read people and deduce their motivations shows his Ni at work, while his supportive nature toward his party members reflects his Fe. Despite his outwardly friendly and disarming persona, Kabru is deeply cynical and distrustful of those he deems corrupt, revealing the darker side of his INFJ idealism. His mission to prevent the dungeon from overflowing with monsters mirrors the INFJ’s long-term vision and desire to protect others from harm. However, Kabru’s lack of experience in the dungeon highlights the INFJ’s struggle with practical, real-world challenges, as his idealism sometimes clashes with the harsh realities of his environment.

#26 – Kotarou Katsura (Gintama)

Kotarou Katsura an INFJ anime character

“Humans simply want to live or want to die by the side of those they trust. That is all. We are plain and simple creatures.”

Kotarou is a unique blend of INFJ vision and eccentricity. While he may come across as illogical and even foolish at times, his heart is set on a grand vision of rebellion and justice. His Ni allows him to think deeply and creatively about how to achieve his goals, often resulting in unconventional but effective strategies. Katsura’s charisma and ability to rally followers show his Fe in action, as he builds strong emotional connections with those who share his ideals. Despite his comedic moments and bizarre antics, Katsura is a deeply thoughtful and empathetic character who is willing to go to great lengths to protect his comrades and fight for the greater good.

#27 – Nakahara Misaki (Welcome to the NHK)

Nakahara Misaki is an INFJ anime character

“People who neglect to make efforts or who don’t take any actions at all are always the ones who dream that someday they will suddenly become wildly successful.”

Misaki is a complex INFJ, revealing both warmth and vulnerability. Outwardly she seems joyful and quirky, but on the inside she struggles with feelings of isolation and self-doubt, convinced she brings misfortune to others. Her desire to help Satou with his social anxiety reveals the INFJ’s natural empathy and fascination with psychology, as she tries unconventional methods to assist him. However, her compulsive tendencies and, in the manga, her manipulative behavior when feeling jealous reveal the darker side of her personality. Despite her struggles, Misaki’s journey reflects the INFJ’s deep need for connection, understanding, and self-worth.

  1. I disagree with you on Aizen and Itachi:
Aizen Sosuke is an INTJ 3w4 so/sp
Itachi Uchiha is an INTJ 1w9 with well developed Fi

    1. I’d make the argument for Aizen being INTJ more so that Itachi. Itachi makes numerous sacrifices base don his love for the village and his brother. That emphasises the “feeling” quality more so than Aizen.

    1. I just wanted to compliment you on how accurate this is and thoroughly enjoyed this. I wasn’t expecting it to be so bang on. Such a pleasant surprise. The detail to certain nuances are also so greatly appreciated. Including Aizen and Uchiha was brilliant. I was kind of expecting Aizen but Uchiha is often misunderstood and mischaracterized alot so when you noticed that and got it spot on….that was a welcomed surprise to see him finally and properly included. I hope that it encourages ppl to do some deep diving into the INFJ world.

  2. i think it’s really good, I’d add Chrollo Lucilfer from Hunter x Hunter, i think he is also INFJ cuz of some lines he said like “is this the key to understand myself ? “
