What Are the Myers-Briggs® Personality Types?
The theory of the Myers-Briggs® psychological types is based on the work of Swiss psychoanalyst Carl Jung. Jung was famous for advancing analytical psychology and for his theory of psychological types.
In the 1940s, Isabel Briggs Myers and her mother Katharine Cook Briggs began to develop a personality assessment based on Jung’s theory. The goal was to make Jung’s ideas more accessible to the general public. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) is the most popular personality assessment in the world. It is used by millions of people in business, education, and personal relationships.
The MBTI® assessment measures preferences in four dimensions:
– Extraversion (E) or Introversion (I)
– Sensing (S) or Intuition (N)
– Thinking (T) or Feeling (F)
– Judging (J) or Perceiving (P)
There are 16 possible personality types, which can be abbreviated using four letters. For example, ESTP would be an individual with Extraversion, Sensing, Thinking, and Perceiving preferences.
You can take the official Myers-Briggs® Type Indicator online or you can try my free personality questionnaire to get an idea of your type code right now. Just keep in mind that the official MBTI® is far more widely tested for reliability and validity than any free online test will be.
Now that we’ve covered the basics, let’s take a look at the meme that you’ll relate to the most!
The Most Relatable Meme for Each Myers-Briggs® Personality Type
The ENFP
ENFPs love generating ideas, insights, and possibilities and this meme captures their enthusiasm with a hilarious twist! Sometimes ENFPs can try to take on so many projects and ideas that they struggle to finish what they begin or feel overwhelmed and don’t know how to choose.

The ENTP
ENTPs are natural knowledge hoarders, and they get a real kick out of using their knowledge to prove people (especially people in authority) wrong. That said, sometimes they have an easier time proving something wrong than proving something right (even their own arguments).
The INFP
Gentle and conscientious, INFPs are very sensitive to how they impact others. They sometimes end up in awkward situations because they worry about giving the wrong impression and over-analyze how a simple thing might make someone feel bad! This meme perfectly captures the INFP’s desire to do the right thing.

The INTP
Many an INTP will relate to making light of their feelings as a way to cope. Because INTPs are thinking-dominant types, they tend to put more weight onto logical analysis and skepticism than believing what their feelings have to say. At times, they may make light of their hardships or emotions in order to try to stay level-headed.

The ENFJ
ENFJs are highly aware of the feelings and struggles of the people around them. It’s natural for them to try to create harmony, which means they often sort through other people’s burdens and try to help them carry the load. Over time this can lead to burnout, stress, and exhaustion if they aren’t careful!
The ENTJ
ENTJs have a sly and dark sense of humor that can show up at the most unexpected moments. As logical types, they tend to struggle with giving comfort because they want to provide solutions rather than simply commiserate. At times, a thought like the one in the meme might go through their head and they find themselves voicing it before they can stop themselves!
The INFJ
INFJs enjoy deep and thoughtful conversation and tend to feel exasperated by surface-level chit-chat. While they know there’s a time and place for small talk, they often feel like they are slowly withering away inside as the conversation continuously leads nowhere.

The INTJ
INTJs tend to feel overwhelmed by obligatory social engagements, especially if there are a lot of formalities involved. Loud, extravagant gatherings where a lot of small talk and mandatory social gestures are involved feel stifling to them and they usually can’t wait to leave!

The ESFP
ESFPs are often the personality types that others rely on to show them a good time or acquaint them with new people. Everyone needs friends, even introverts, but often ESFPs take on the role of “friend-generator” introducing more reserved types to people they hope will click with them. Sometimes they love this, other times they wish people would take more initiative!
The ESTP
While ESTPs can occasionally enjoy an abstract discussion, they much prefer action over words and realistic dialogue over existential musings. When ESTPs are called upon to sit still and listen to someone catastrophize over the state of the planet, the future, and the meaning of life they tend to get restless and bored. Life is meant to be lived to the ESTP. If you’re not sure what life means, they believe you should simply go out and do something with it!
The ISFP
ISFPs are deeply caring and generous souls, but they need ample alone time to feel like themselves. When they have to spend a lot of time around people they can start to feel detached from themselves or overwhelmed and tired. On top of this, they tend to feel things deeply and internally without showing as much emotion on the outside. Some people think ISFPs are angry, distant, or upset when they are perfectly happy!

The ISTP
ISTPs strive for radical honesty in everything that they do, but unfortunately this tendency isn’t always met with popularity or praise. Some ISTPs feel like they are perpetually offending people without meaning to simply by striving for as much accuracy as possible.

The ESFJ
ESFJs are deeply in tune with the feelings of the people around them and strive to maintain harmony as much as possible. Often the quintessential hosts or hostesses, they have a knack for knowing what people need and meeting those needs in a practical way. When someone decides to troll an event they’re a part of, they can feel overwhelmed and annoyed. This is especially true when someone brings up a heated controversial topic that the ESFJ knows will put everyone in a tizzy and cause nothing but animosity on a day that was supposed to be special.
The ESTJ
ESTJs believe in responsibility, duty, and hard work. This can mean that they sometimes feel at odds with their generation or the people around them. In a world that is becoming more focused on well-being over work ethic, ESTJs can feel out of their element. They believe anything in life worth having demands some sweat and tears along the way.
The ISFJ
ISFJs tend to reflect on their past experiences a lot. Unfortunately for many those past experiences tend to bubble up when they’re trying to relax and have a good time (or go to sleep!).
The ISTJ
ISTJs are sometimes called the “duty fulfillers” and it’s really not hard to see why. These types care deeply about their responsibilities and quickly notice when they are letting any little task slide. Detail-oriented and pragmatic, they strive to make the world a more stable and secure place by working hard, solving problems, and being reliable. Unfortunately this can mean that at times they forego the self-care they desperately need!
