Trying to figure out which social media platform will best meet your needs? Today we’re taking a look at the platforms that best represent each of the 9 Enneagram types. Some types will prefer more creative social media possibilities while others will focus on issues of security and community. Let us know if you agree with our choice by leaving a comment!

Disclaimer: Posts like these are fun to write and survey the different Enneagram types about, but they are never 100% accurate for every single person. As an example, I’m a self-preservation 3 and my favorite social media is GoodReads (not as fond of Instagram). That said, Instagram was mentioned by 3s over and over again as a favorite and seemed like a fitting choice for their basic characteristics.

The Enneagram 1 – LinkedIn

The consummate professionals, Ones enjoy using LinkedIn as a way to stay organized, on top of their work goals, and up-to-date on their colleagues’ online information. Through LinkedIn they can show their work history, awards, degrees obtained, and share professional accomplishments. They feel it’s important to be seen as intelligent, skilled professionals who value hard work. Many Ones also use LinkedIn as a way to share information about their values, causes, and volunteer efforts.

Enneagram 2 – Clubhouse

Twos believe they can find connection, interaction, and a deeper level of friendship on Clubhouse. They use this social media platform to have a more immersive interaction with others. The company describes itself as “a new type of social product based on voice [that] allows people everywhere to talk, tell stories, develop ideas, deepen friendships, and meet interesting new people around the world.” Twos love the intimacy that Clubhouse provides and enjoy getting interactions as they take their morning walks, cook breakfast, or otherwise go about their day.

Enneagram 3 – Instagram

Threes use Instagram to build and maintain their own personal brands. They love the idea of showcasing their skills, ventures, or aesthetic, but often feel guilty about doing so more overtly. On Instagram, however, they can find like-minded people who are interested in starting businesses or developing their style, business goals, or persona. Enneagram Threes are influencers and leaders, so Instagram allows them to showcase their talents by sharing photos of themselves and connecting with others who have like-minded #Goals.

Enneagram 4 – Tumblr

Fours use Tumblr to swap stories, share or view art, and find creative inspiration. It boasts an enthusiastic base of creatives specifically attuned to arts, culture, and storytelling, making it great a social media for individualists and artists. Fours are interested in absorbing other people’s creativity and sharing their own creative endeavors on this platform. They want Tumblr to be a place where they can share their ideas about existentialism or post photos of abandoned buildings without getting puzzled reactions from friends.

Enneagram 5 – Reddit

Fives use Reddit for its thorough information aggregation. They are intrigued by the idea of feeding their curiosities with a never-ending stream of articles, videos, or online debates and discussions. Fives also enjoy scratching their intellectual itch and experiencing the social camaraderie that exists on niche subreddits devoted to everything from space exploration to obscure art history to brain teasers.

Enneagram 6 – Telegram

Sixes are concerned with issues of security, and Telegram is on board to protect that. Telegram supports user privacy with end-to-end encrypted messages. On top of the security, the community-minded Six can enjoy joining or creating groups for their friends and families. There are no distracting ads, hidden fees, or paranoid feelings of someone looking over your shoulder and watching your messaging history.

Enneagram 7 – TikTok

Sevens love the creativity, humor, and variety involved in TikTok. With this app, they can easily show their friends and followers a good time with only a brief imaginative idea and a tap of the record button. You don’t have to be an expert graphic designer or thought leader to create fun, humorous, or engaging content. The endless possibilities to entertain and be entertained make this the ideal platform for Sevens.

Enneagram 8 – Discord

Eights are drawn to the ultra-competitive nature of gaming, and Discord is there to meet their needs. Here, they can connect with other gamers so that they can conquer virtual worlds together. And for the Eights who aren’t into gaming, Discord can be a way to connect with friends, debate issues, or find groups with shared interests.

Enneagram 9 – Twitter

Nines love Twitter for its raw, unedited form of communication. They can create anonymous accounts and share their ideas and thoughts without fear of being found out or having a conflict. Discussions tend to be deeper than what is found on Facebook, and there’s less focus on image and ego than Instagram. Nines use Twitter to connect their ideas with other people’s, and to have them acknowledged.

  1. As a Five I spend much of my free time on Quora and don’t really like Reddit but they are close to the same so I guess this’ll also work. 🙂
