Boredom Busters for the ENTJ Child
ENTJ children need a sense of control and structure in their lives. When everything seems chaotic and uncertain, they can feel flustered trying to find a direction. During this uncertain time in history many ENTJ children are looking for ways to carve out some certainty, structure, and order. If their lives at home are haphazard, disorganized, and chaotic they will certainly feel more stressed than usual. In this article we’re going to explore some ways for them to deal with boredom and the uncertainty of daily life.

First off, what does ENTJ mean?
E stands for Extroversion.ย ENTJs get their energy from the world around them. They are revived when they can socialize, work on projects, and interact with their environment.
N stands for iNtuition. ENTJs are more focused on the abstract and potential of something than the concrete reality of what exists right now.
T stands for Thinking. ENTJs like having a logical structure and order to the world around them. They try to stay unbiased and focused on the facts when they make decisions.
J stands for Judging. ENTJs like knowing what’s going to happen and having a sense of order and control in the world around them. They are decisive and like to make quick decisions.
What to Watch Out For:
Your ENTJ child will typically be no-nonsense and direct. They are typically imaginative, ambitious, and undaunted. If they suddenly become more reclusive and distracted by their feelings, chances are they are severely stressed. Try to get them in touch with the reality of the world around them to pull them out of stress. Go for a nature walk, jump through a sprinkler, make ice cream sundaes, or do an exercise video with them. Getting them in touch with some kind of physical activity often helps them to de-stress.
Boredom Busters for Your ENTJ Child:
Proactive and task-oriented, ENTJ children will feel restless if they donโt have an important job to do. Being stuck at home and unable to pursue their independent interests can make them apathetic and irritable, so itโs vital for them to find some way to have control and autonomy. Let them watch videos about starting their own businesses online, help them make something that they can sell on Etsy, or give them challenging games to play that stimulate their mind (think Portal or Civilization).
Books to Read:
ENTJ children are drawn to stories that motivate them to accomplish more with their lives. Driven and ambitious, they like stories that are filled with passion and profound meaning. The books I’ve selected for ENTJ children feature strong, resourceful characters with vision and character. There are also some books here that will spark the entrepreneurial and innovative nature of the ENTJ child.
The 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene (for older kids), Watership Down by Richard Adams, The Key to Extraordinary by Natalie Lloyd, Stone Fox by John Reynold Gardiner, Hatchet by Gary Paulsen, Kira-Kira by C. Kadohata. For younger kids, Mistakes That Worked: 40 Familiar Inventions & How They Came to Be by Charlotte Foltz Jones & John OโBrien, What Do You Do with a Chance? By K. Yomada, The Empty Pot by Demi, The Day the Crayons Quit by D. Daywalt.
Movies to Watch:
ENTJs like movies with heroic characters overcoming seemingly insurmountable odds. They are also drawn to documentaries that broaden their views of the world and what’s possible. Here are some excellent choices for ENTJ children:
Pirates of the Caribbean, Brave, If You Build it, Living on One Dollar, October Sky, Queen of Katwe, Walt Before Mickey.
Other Activities:
- Make items to sell on Etsy
- Listen to audiobooks
- Learn a new skill on YouTube (playing an instrument, photography, art, origami)
- Practice a new instrument (or make music from household items)
- Create a workout challenge and try to meet it every day
- Play strategy games with others or online
- Try to get through a yoga workout without falling down (many are free to watch on Amazon Prime)
- Try to keep a balloon in the air for as long as possible (time yourself)

Haha, this article made me realize that all my favorite movies as a kid (October Sky, Bring It On, Chicken Run) were about overcoming seemingly insurmountable odds.
My favorite movie as an adult is Swing Girls, which is about an entire class of low-performing Japanese high schoolers overcoming seemingly insurmountable odds. I highly recommend it for older kids and for mature younger kids whose parents don’t mind a handful of curse words and a few non-suggestive/dirty mentions of a character’s dad being a gynecologist.
