Here’s the Disney Dad You’d Be, Based On Your Enneagram Type

Enneagram 1 – Mufasa (The Lion King)

Enneagram 1 is Mufasa

“Everything you see – exists together in a delicate balance. While others search for what they can take, a true king searches for what he can give.” – Mufasa

Mufasa is the perfect example of a healthy Enneagram One. Focused on duty and responsibility, he leads with humility and grace. Unlike the unhealthy One, Mufasa displays tolerance, even for his snarky younger brother, Scar. He also knows how to laugh, play, and relax. But ultimately Scar’s focus is on carrying out his duties as king and protecting his family. While any Enneagram type would (hopefully) do this in the same position, they’d all have different flavors of leadership. Mufasa is patient, calm, but orderly; he knows how to implement rules and take command with clarity and poise.

Enneagram 2- James (Princess and the Frog)

Enneagram 2 is James from The Princess and the Frog

“You know the thing about good food? It brings folks together from all walks of life. It warms them right up, and it puts little smiles on their faces. And when I open up my own restaurant, I tell you, people are gonna lines up for miles around, just to get a taste of my food.” – James

James perfectly exemplifies the healthy Enneagram Two type. He’s a hardworking, loving father who always puts his family first. His motto? Do what you can with what you have, and do it for the good of others. Despite the harsh realities of his life in New Orleans, he finds joy and gratefulness whenever he thinks of his family and their love for him. Enneagram Twos are known for their generosity and James is no exception. He loves to give, whether it’s his time or the ingredients in his kitchen, always with a focus on what would bring fulfillment to those around him. His love of food is just one of many ways he enjoys bringing people together and creating harmony.

Enneagram 3 – Mr. Incredible (The Incredibles)

Enneagram 3 is Mr Incredible

“No matter how many times you save the world, it always manages to get back in jeopardy again. Sometimes I just want it to stay saved! You know, for a little bit? I feel like the maid; I just cleaned up this mess! Can we keep it clean for… for ten minutes!” – Mr. Incredible

Mr. Incredible is the classic Enneagram Three type. He’s driven, ambitious, and determined to be a hero in his own right – with or without his superhero suit. Enneagram Threes are often described as hardworking and Mr. Incredible meets that expectation perfectly. It gives him a thrill when he can defeat a villain, solve a problem, and be the hero of the day. Sometimes his desire to be exceptional gets in the way of his relationships or his ability to work as a team. He often says no to help and denies the fact that he needs others. Showing any form of vulnerability is difficult for him, as it is for most Threes. Part of Mr. Incredible’s growth journey is learning to accept input and help from others, and becoming more in touch with the various emotions that he may have a tendency to repress (like fear of losing Elastigirl).

Enneagram 4 – Heinz Doofenshmirtz (Phineas and Ferb)

The Enneagram 4 is Heinz Doofenshmirtz

“I trusted him and he just cast me aside like a… like… like an old newspaper. He didn’t even wrap fish in me.” – Heinz Doofenshmirtz

Beneath all of Heinz Doofenshmirtz’s wacky plans for power, there is a wounded child who was betrayed by his parents and raised by ocelots. Enneagram Fours often feel like outsiders and struggle with feelings of being misunderstood. We see this again and again with Doofenshmirtz, who finds his place in the world through science and through his love/hate relationship with his nemesis Perry the Platypus. Enneagram Fours also have a deep-rooted desire for personal freedom, and Doofenshmirtz’s ultimate goal is to break away from the societal rules of Danville and create his own little empire. He may be misguided in his methods, but he’s always driven by a desire to find his unique place in the world; his own identity. He’s able to maintain hope in the face of failure, while also acknowledging the pain of being rejected by those closest to him.

Enneagram 5 – Maurice (Beauty and the Beast)

The Enneagram 5 Disney dad is Maurice from Beauty and the Beast

Belle: “Papa, do you think I’m odd?”

Maurice: “My daughter? Odd? Where would you get an idea like that?”

Maurice is the Enneagram Five type. He’s a dreamer, an inventor, and a deeply devoted father. Enneagram Fives often experience a deep need to understand and make sense of the world around them. Maurice loves nothing more than tinkering away at one of his inventions or being lost in his own analytical thoughts. Enneagram Fives can have difficulty expressing their thoughts succinctly, and Maurice shows this when he tries to explain what has happened to Belle to Gaston and others in the tavern. While many people consider Maurice strange or “loony” as Gaston puts it, he has a unique ability to think outside the box, perceive possibilities, and come up with original ideas.

Enneagram 6 – Marlin (Finding Nemo)

Enneagram 6 Marlin from Finding Nemo

“Now, what’s the one thing we have to remember about the ocean? It’s not safe. That’s my boy.” – Marlin

Marlin is the lovable over-protective father of the Finding Nemo films. He’s anxious, fearful, and always prepared for the worst-case scenario. Enneagram Sixes often experience a deep need to feel safe and secure in their environment and can become overwhelmed with worry when faced with uncertainty or change. But Marlin’s overprotective nature comes from a place of love and devotion. He will do whatever it takes to protect Nemo, even if it means venturing out into the ocean himself. Enneagram Sixes at their best are courageous, loyal, and reliable. Marlin teaches us that no matter how anxious we may feel in the face of change, there are still moments where we can find courage to reach beyond our comfort zone and fight for what matters to us.

Enneagram 7 – Tramp (Lady and the Tramp)

Enneagram 7 is Tramp from Lady and the Tramp

Lady: “Haven’t you a family?”

Tramp: “One for every day of the week. The point is, none of them have me.”

Carefree and impulsive, Tramp exemplifies the Enneagram Seven. Sevens have a strong desire for new experiences, freedom, and fun. Tramp is no exception, as he loves to explore, take risks, and cause general mischief. In any situation he seems to know a trick or two that can help him get out of a jam. Whether he’s convincing a Beaver that Lady’s muzzle is a “log puller” or outwitting the dog pound villains, Tramp has a unique ability to look at any problem and find creative solutions. Enneagram Sevens also have a strong desire for freedom, something Tramp embodies as he chooses his own destiny and refuses to stay tied down to any one family for as long as possible.

Other Enneagram Seven Disney Dads: Thomas O’Malley (The Aristocats), Goofy (A Goofy Movie), Pongo (101 Dalmations)

Enneagram 8 – King Fergus (Brave)

Enneagram 8 is King Fergus from Brave

“I’ll fight you with my bare hands!” – King Fergus

Many people type King Fergus as a Seven due to his boisterous, fun-loving personality. But Eights also have a desire to get all the enjoyment they can out of life. They typically have more focus than Sevens, and are controlled more by underlying anger than underlying anxiety. Fergus has no problem being in authority, but sometimes he gets into brawls too quickly, forcing Queen Elinor to clean up his messes. Enneagram Eights are often strong, tough-minded leaders who have a deep need to be respected and taken seriously by those around them. Fergus is no exception; he may joke around, but ultimately he takes his role as leader of the clan very seriously. Like most Eights, Fergus is energetic, self-confident, and protective. But at his worst he can be too impulsive and aggressive, refusing to listen to anyone else’s opinions or taking action rather than using his head.

Enneagram 9 – The Sultan

Enneagram Nine is the Sultan from Aladdin

“Well, am I sultan, or am I sultan? From this day forth, the princess shall marry whoever she deems worthy.” – The Sultan

The Sultan from Aladdin is a rather unhealthy version of an Enneagram Nine. While he wants what’s best for Jasmine and his kingdom, it takes him a long time to realize that he has the authority to enact change. He feels pulled between the various desires of the people in his palace, and gets flustered when people aren’t getting along. To cope with this frustration he finds distractions instead of facing tasks head on, something unhealthy Nines are apt to do. Yet while The Sultan has his faults, he’s also deeply nurturing and kind. He has a generous nature and an open-minded outlook towards others. When he learns that Aladdin is just a homeless boy, The Sultan shows understanding and a non-judgmental countenance and ultimately makes a decision that will allow true love to bloom.
