The ENFP – About Time

About Time ENFP movie choice

When Tim Lake is 21, his father tells him an age-old family secret: all men in the Lake family can travel through time. Tim uses his new power to, sometimes awkwardly, achieve the life of his dreams. However, as time goes on, Tim discovers that even this remarkable ability can’t shield him and those he loves from the most painful parts of life. ENFPs will relate to Tim’s searching for meaning in his life, his idealism, his creativity and passion, and his emotional intensity. This is a feel-good movie with a lot of heart that will speak to ENFPs’ desire for a life well-lived

The ENTP – The Adam Project

The Adam Project

13-year-old Adam Reed is grieving the loss of his beloved father one night when he wanders into a garage and finds a wounded pilot there. To make matters even more confusing, the pilot is an older version of himself! The two Adams don’t necessarily get along, but they realize they have to pull together to go back in time, find their father, and save the world. I picked this for ENTPs because I thought there would be a lot of material to keep their intuition buzzing with ideas and connections. The humor and complexity seems like it will appeal to this type’s active imagination.

Coming to Netflix March 11

The INFP – Tick, Tick…BOOM!

tick tick boom infp

On the verge of turning 30, promising theater composer Jonathan Larson navigates love, friendship, and the pressure to create something great with his life before time runs out. INFPs will relate to Larson’s quest to live up to his dreams and the pressure to give into monetary gain instead of creative excellence. Larson (I believe an ENFP) will be relatable to INFPs with his humor, idealism, imagination, and vision. This is someone who wants to improve the world but struggles with self-doubt, grief, financial desperation, and the pervading fear that he’s wasting his time.

The INTP – The Imitation Game

the imitation game intp

The greatest mathematician of his time, Alan Turing, works against the clock to crack the “unbreakable” German Enigma code. At the same time, he struggles to come to terms with his troubled private life and the prejudice of the time he lived in. I picked this movie for INTPs because it’s a smart film with a shuffling narrative that moves from past to present to future. INTPs enjoy a movie that keeps their attention and makes them analyze and think. I also believe that Turing personifies the “misunderstood genius” that many INTPs find relatable.

In a future world where Britain is ruled by a totalitarian government, a masked vigilante known only as ‘V’ fights against the regime, seeking to bring freedom and democracy back to the people. ENFJs will appreciate the themes of standing up for what’s right in the face of oppression, and the power of collective action. As idealists themselves, they may not always agree with V’s actions, but they’ll be inspired by the lengths he goes to fight for his beliefs.

The Green Mile tells the story of Paul Edgecomb, a veteran penitentiary guard who is starting to become cynical about life after watching so many men die. Over time, he starts to wonder if Coffey has supernatural powers and if he is even guilty of the crime he was imprisoned for. This film is perfect for INFJs because it deals with deep spiritual themes like faith, hope, and redemption. They will love the complex and nuanced characters, as well as the soul-searching questions that the film poses.

In 1947, banker Andy Dufresne is sentenced to life in Shawshank prison for the murder of his wife and her lover. Despite the bleak environment, Andy befriends fellow inmate Ellis Boyd “Red” Redding and finds a sense of hope in the seemingly hopeless situation. I picked this movie for INTJs because it is about someone who maintains their integrity and values in the face of great adversity. INTJs strive to stay true to themselves in the midst of hardship, and not to give the outside world power over them. They will appreciate Dufresne’s story of resilience, ingenuity, and courage.

Rescued by Ruby ESFJ

ESFJs will love this heartwarming film about Ruby, an Australian Shepherd and Border Collie Mix, who was deemed unadoptable due to her high energy level. But when a volunteer trainer named Pat Inman meets her, he believes that she’s intelligent beneath her rowdy exterior. He offers her to Dan O’Neil, who sees this as the perfect opportunity to prove that he can join an elite K-9 unit. This movie is perfect for ESFJs because it celebrates the power of redemption. 1. I’d love to get recommendations for INFJs who are also HSPs. I know there’s a lot of us. I can’t tolerate movies with lots of violence or gore or even foul language. Makes picking out movies very difficult! 😂

  2. Thanks Susan, About Time is an excellent choice for an ENFP. I will check the ENTP and INFP movies, they seem awesome.

  3. I read The Green Mile back when it came out in serial form and it broke me. INFJs will be deeply, deeply affected by the story, enraged by the injustice, and desiring hard consequences. It’s a hard read and a hard watch.

  4. Great list!
The Shawshank Redemption is the best film ever made so I’ll claim that it can be argued as the top recommendation for all MB combos!
Perhaps that will be a future post? LOL
    Cheers!

  5. Lady Bird’s Catholic, conservative mom wants her to go to Berkley? A school built upon the Grave of God? In what Bizzaro world does this take place?

  6. That’s great! The last movie I watched is the one suggested for my type, and I LOVED it! I am an INFP, and commenting on anything is pretty uncharacteristic of me…

  7. Nice lists, but almost every film is about men. Apart from Ladybird (excellent film), women in these films are only the male lead’s love interests or mothers or similar. Even the ‘love stories’ are ‘driven’ by the male lead e.g. About Time – the MEN can travel through time etc. Please try and be a bit more inclusive. And don’t even get me started on the culturally restrictive, heteronormative, whiteness of most of these films either…

  8. I have an ESFJ friend who is a big dog person, and she wanted to watch Rescue with Ruby with her, so good job on that one.

As an ENFP who loves Romances Movies, I will definitely check out “About Time”

I have seen The Adam’s Project reviewed on Youtube, I meant to watch it for myself, can’t remember if I did or not.

And I have seen Ladybird with my sister (I definitely AN ESXP Type vibe from her)
