Why Each Myers-Briggs® Personality Type Has it the Hardest
Over the last ten years I’ve noticed that certain types have an abundance of sad, melodramatic memes made in their honor. Usually the memes have a somber, black background and demonstrate some way in which the type feels completely misunderstood in the world.
Here’s an example of such a graphic below:
While these memes are obviously modest and filled with humble longing, there seems to be a shortage of them for any types that aren’t INFPs or INFJs. Why can’t all 16 types join in the fun misery? With that in mind, I created sad, melodramatic graphics for each of the Myers-Briggs® personality types. After all, we all have our rainy days of quiet torment.
So here it goes….Oh, and before I forget, be aware that this article is rife with stereotypes. Read responsibly.

Why Each Myers-Briggs® Personality Type Has it the Hardest
The ISTP
ISTPs enjoy an independent, carefree life. Nothing beats working on your motorcycle on a crisp, autumn day. Until someone encounters a technical problem they can’t figure out. Then it’s “ring up the handy dandy ISTP” time and, before you know it, the ISTP has been pulled from their quiet tranquility into a situation where they must, yet again, save the day.
It’s tough being a hero. Without ISTPs the world would crumble under the weight of all its unrepaired gadgets. So here’s a little love for the ISTP who confronts incompetence day after day, yet still manages to keep the world spinning.

The ISFP
Being an ISFP means getting comfortable with contradictions. You love people….from a distance. You feel deeply and passionately…even if your face is cool and mysterious. You crave connection…after you’ve had 23 hours of alone time in a day.
ISFPs like you are deeply aware of people’s intentions and motivations. You have little patience for phony agendas and you can see right through everyone from your boss at the office to the mailman who delivers your Amazon Prime boxes. Being this emotionally in tune isn’t easy; but someone’s got to do it and you’re up for the challenge. Thank you, ISFPs.

The ESTP
You love action and responsiveness. Life is meant to be lived not analyzed or commiserated over. But the world is filled with armchair philosophers and self-diagnosing social media addicts. If you hear one more argument about who’s the bigger victim in a situation you’ll dropkick a puppy.
Why can’t people take ownership of their lives? Why can’t people get up and start DOING something? You like candy crush as much as the next person, but there’s a time to put the phone down and go jump off a skyscraper with a parasail.

The ESFP
ESFPs are the “fun” personality type. So you’d think they’d always be happy, right? After all, who’s the person who gets the energy amped up for a party? Who’s the person who can make a birthday cake out of Twizzlers and toilet paper rolls? Who’s the person who can make a bad day good with just a few words of encouragement? You, dear ESFP.
But it’s not always easy being the fun one. Even you need to gaze through a raindrop covered windowpane and dwell on life’s cruelty sometimes. But anytime you have a tragic moment, people just look at you like “Where’s the confetti?!”
I see you, ESFP. You lead with your heart and you spread joy everywhere you go. Take a moment to revel in the sadness that is inherent to being human. Thank you for being you – it’s okay to not be “the fun one” for a while.

The INTP
INTPs just can’t catch a break. No matter how much they correct people’s arguments or point out flaws in their reasoning, no one ever seems to say a simple “thank you” for their efforts.
But don’t worry, INTPs. We can appreciate you from here. As we drown in a sea of posturing, moral relativism, and pandering to lowest common denominators, your logical approach is like a beacon of hope. We know you’re in there, diligently breaking down the walls of ignorance, even if no one really gives you the appreciation you deserve. Thank you.

The INFP
INFPs want to change the world, but they don’t really want to leave their bedrooms. They have the voice of idealism in one ear and another voice reminding them that while people can be cruel, their beds, cats, and books never are.
Still, INFPs are often the voice of a conscience that guides us to do the right thing. Your creativity, empathy, and eye for possibility guide us forward with a sense of purpose and meaning. Thank you, INFPs. We see you and appreciate all that you do.

The ENTP
ENTPs have enough sarcasm and wit to power a small country.
They can see the holes in any argument, poke fun at any situation, and come up with solutions that no one else has thought of. But their remarks are often met with an offended sigh rather than a laugh or a “thank you.” People think their sarcasm is mean and their unusual solutions are too far-fetched.
Yes, ENTP, you too can hang out in your car blasting “I’m Not Okay (I Promise).” You also can have your moments of “Why does nobody get me?”
But don’t worry, ENTPs. People may not always understand you, but that won’t matter when you’re making millions for creating the first ever rocket ship powered completely by discarded banana peels. So keep going, and don’t listen to anyone who tries to dim your light. We’re all counting on you.

The ENFP
ENFPs are tired of not being taken seriously. You want to turn the living room into a giant ball pit? Go ahead. Anyone who doesn’t see the beauty in that idea is too out of touch with their inner child. And you’re not just focused on fun. You also contemplate the nature of existence, the power of truth, and what it means to be alive.
So don’t worry about the haters, ENFPs. Your originality and passion are two of your superpowers. Keep creating and dreaming because you can make a difference in this world that no one else can. Don’t let anyone dim your light.

The ISTJ
ISTJs enjoy a life of tranquility, routine, and practicality. Nothing says relaxation like organizing all your socks by color and having the perfect plan for tomorrow morning’s breakfast.
But even ISTJs have their rough and melancholy days. So take a few minutes and scroll through some memes about cats falling off tables and people getting caught in embarrassing situations—you know, the kind of stuff that’s so silly you can’t help but laugh.
You’re the rock of our world, ISTJ. We know it’s not always easy being the dependable, common-sense one in a world full of weirdos. So keep up the good work and don’t forget to take a break every once in awhile.

The ISFJ
ISFJs are one of the most underrated types in the world. They’re known as the supporters, the givers, the nurturers….you get the point. But sometimes they just want to throw down the towel, crawl into bed, and watch re-runs of The Office. Sometimes they want to know someone else is running background support for them. They want someone to care about their stories.
But when the opportunity arises for ISFJs to share about their lives, they often clam up. It takes time for them to feel safe with someone. But when they do, look out! ISFJs can regale you with hilarious and heartwarming stories once they feel secure enough to do so.

The ESTJ
As an ESTJ, you like your life to be planned out, organized, and productive. You practically breathe post-it notes and daily agendas. While people like to complain about your “bossiness” when you’re not around, you know that being the bad guy is part of the job.
But like every emo kid with coal-rimmed eyes, you often feel misunderstood and unfairly labeled. Sure you like people to be responsible – and you won’t hesitate to remind people of their responsibilities. But you have a heart too, and emotions. You may not want anyone to know it, but beneath all your responsible seriousness is someone who just wants to make a difference for the people they love.

The ESFJ
ESFJs crave loyalty, connection, and deep friendship with others. They put their all into their relationships, but they often find themselves disappointed in the modern world. People are more obsessed with digital forms of connection than face-to-face interactions now. Sure, ESFJs have learned to adapt (and who doesn’t like the perfectly fitting emoji?) but there’s still something that rings hollow for them.
ESFJ, we see you planning family gatherings, reaching out to friends that are sick, and letting people know that you’ve got their back. You may feel like it’s all for naught sometimes, but we see you. We can’t hug you in person right now, but here’s a meme to show we care.

The INTJ
You’re someone who is always ahead of the game, INTJ. You’re an innovator, a creator – someone who bends space and time to their will (to some degree). But it can be lonely being so far ahead of where other people are focused. I’m sure this Thanksgiving (if you live in the US) you’ll be plotting out your next five-year plan while everyone else is discussing their favorite TikTok videos.
But here’s something to remember: even if you feel misunderstood or isolated, you are still making a mark in this world. We see your originality and courage – and we thank you for it. So go ahead, keep blazing trails and unlocking the future’s secrets. We know you got this!

The INFJ
You’re someone who wants to make a difference in the hearts of people. Your insight can unlock the potential of a relationship, or provide a steadying hand in troubled times. But that comes at a cost – sometimes it feels like no one understands you or appreciates your sensitivity and understanding. Especially when you treat your phone like a bomb every time it rings.
But here’s a reminder: We see you and your hard work. Your sensitivity is an asset, one that the world needs more of. Instead of hiding away, take a small step towards connection and you’ll be surprised by how quickly your courage is rewarded.

The ENTJ
Your personality type gets a bad rap, ENTJ. People think you’re bossy and know-it-all, but we know better. You’re motivated, driven, and ambitious – and behind that tough, can-do exterior is a heart of gold. You put effort and willpower behind your values and strive to stay true to your principles, no matter what.
When life gets hard, you don’t complain about life’s unfairness and blast emo music. Instead you look for ways to make yourself stronger, so that the next challenge will be easier. We see you, ENTJ. We know you’re someone who is constantly pushing the boundaries and never settling for anything less than excellence. Just remember to take a break every now and then – you deserve it.

The ENFJ
ENFJ, you’re a natural motivational speaker. “I know you’re tired, but you can do it! Just one more mile!” you say, while secretly wondering if you have enough energy to make it through the day yourself. Your mission is to catalyze people towards their greatest potential, even if it means that you burn yourself out in the process.
Remember this: your empathy and insight are a blessing – for yourself and those you love. Take care of yourself first and then share the overflow with others. That way, you won’t be pouring motivation from an empty cup. It’s okay to talk about yourself, take care of yourself, and prioritize your well-being. Thanks for all you do.

Yeah I see these things being true. I am an ENFP and I relate to my own quote aswell as the ENFJ one and INFP One. I always mean to start off the day well and be productive but I have gotten in to bad habits.
I don’t look up the memes of other personality types but I have looked at mine. I’m an INFJ and there are a ton of them. I had the best laugh with myself at myself! Really helped me lighten up! I am a huge fan of the MBTI. Learning my personality type built my self esteem up tremendously. Invaluable tool for a covert narcissist to learn how to value themselves and be able to give up their covert caretaking coping mechanisms.
Thank you so much for recognizing us! I can speak for istj (myself) and isfj (my sister), nail it.
You made me laugh for a full minute on mine! Seriously, that’s a long time time to laugh; just try it. My side hurts. INFJ btw.
The reason I find sleeping far more convenient than talking… Intp 🤚
As an ISTJ who is always getting my pens stolen at work, I laughed out loud at mine.
Thank you! You see me (ENFJ).
I’m an ENTJ and this is the first time someone has understood the true me.
