Ever feel like you’re endlessly scrolling through streaming options, hoping something will just jump out at you? It’s frustrating, right? There’s so much out there, and yet nothing seems to fit quite right (I know, first world problems).
I personally detest scrolling through Netflix. While I have plenty of friends who will just try anything, I feel like I have to read reviews, watch trailers, and really examine the show to make sure I’m not going to waste my time. Of course, I end up wasting time analyzing the shows and half the time I walk away with nothing I really want to watch. So this week I decided to do some of the legwork for you (and for myself this year) and analyze the new series coming out in 2025 and try to figure out which one would fit each of the 16 personality types best.
So, if you’re feeling stuck or just overwhelmed by choices, let’s figure out what’s right for you—one type, one show, one great binge-watch at a time.
Sometimes life throws a wrench into your plans—and sometimes it throws your estranged daughter and her kids into your home. Shifting Gears is about Matt (Tim Allen), a widowed car restorer who’s just trying to keep his classic-car workshop running. But when his daughter and her children move in, it turns out the real restoration project isn’t under the hood—it’s in the living room.
For ISFJs, this show hits all the right notes. It’s heartfelt without being sappy, funny without trying too hard, and full of the kind of moments that make you stop and go, “Yeah, that’s exactly what family feels like.” Tim Allen brings just enough warmth and snark to keep things grounded, while the show balances humor with those quieter, meaning-filled moments ISFJs love. Most ISFJs I know adore a good sitcom so (key word “good”) so I thought this would be right up their alley.
At its core, Shifting Gears is about connection—fixing what’s broken, even if it’s awkward, messy, or takes longer than expected. Every ISFJ I know loves shows about complex relationships, but they also love shows that make them laugh and give them a respite from the busyness of day-to-day life. This one seemed like the perfect pick for that! Premiering January 8th on ABC
Other Shows ISFJs Might Enjoy:
Missing You (Netflix) – A detective discovers her long-lost fiancé on a dating app eleven years after his disappearance.
The Bear: Season 4 (FX) – A dramedy about food, family, and second chances. Its intense but deeply human storytelling will appeal to ISFJs who like watching complicated interpersonal dynamics unfold over amazing food.
The Pitt (TBD) – A real-time medical drama following a trauma doctor’s shift. The focus on relationships and dedication under pressure will appeal to ISFJs who appreciate shows with a lot of heart.
INFJ – Severance Season 2
INFJs love mind-bending, emotional stories that make them question the world and dive deep into the complexity of human nature. Severance will keep their minds humming with ideas long after the series closes. Imagine a world where your work self and personal self are completely split, existing as two separate people with no shared memories. That’s the unsettling premise of Severance, and it’s a goldmine for INFJs who love unraveling deeper meanings.
Mark, the show’s protagonist, works at Lumon Industries, a corporation shrouded in mystery. His “Innie” (work self) has no idea about the tragedies his “Outie” (personal self) has faced, and vice versa. As the lines between these lives start to blur, questions arise about identity, ethics, and what it truly means to be whole.
What makes Severance perfect for INFJs isn’t just the gripping mystery—it’s the way it dives into themes of purpose, autonomy, and human connection. The characters’ struggles to find meaning in their fractured lives will appeal to INFJs who are always on the search for meaning and enjoy playing with stories that explore the human experience, consciousness, and what it means to live a truly good life. Premiering on Friday, January 17th on Apple+.
Other Shows INFJs Might Enjoy:
Paradise (Hulu) – A gripping mix of mystery and character drama, this series explores betrayal, loyalty, and the search for truth after a presidential murder.
The Handmaid’s Tale: Season 6 (Hulu) – The final chapter of this dystopian saga dives into rebellion, resilience, and the fight for freedom. Its layered storytelling and intense relationships are ideal for INFJs.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (MAX) – A prequel to Game of Thrones, this tale of honor and friendship explores moral complexity and emotional bonds, hitting all the right INFJ notes.
Honey Lemon Soda (Crunchyroll) – A heartfelt anime about overcoming past trauma and finding self-expression through unexpected relationships.
ISTJ – 1923: Season 2
ISTJs love a story that takes them back to a time in history they can’t actually revisit —and 1923 is exactly that. Set in the early 20th century, this Yellowstone prequel follows the Dutton family as they face drought, economic turmoil, and family conflicts that threaten their legacy. My ISTJ friends are huge Yellowstone aficionados, and I believe Cara Dutton and Jacob Dutton are both STJ personality types. With Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren leading the cast, the show is packed with grit, determination, and just the right amount of drama.
What makes 1923 such a great fit for ISTJs is its focus on resilience and the hard work it takes to overcome life’s challenges. It doesn’t sugarcoat the struggles of the era, but it also highlights the importance of loyalty, perseverance, and doing what needs to be done—even when it’s not easy. Plus, the historical details bring everything to life in a way that feels real and intentional, which ISTJs will absolutely appreciate. This series streams on February 23rd on Paramount Plus.
Other Shows ISTJs Might Enjoy:
Lockerbie: A Search for Truth (HBO Max) – An investigation into the real-life 1988 Lockerbie bombing.
The Residence (Netflix) – A tightly plotted murder mystery set in the White House.
Reacher: Season 3 (Amazon Prime Video) – A principled hero solving conspiracies with logic and precision.
Missing You (Netflix) – A detective’s search for answers in a deeply personal mystery.
INTJ – Black Mirror: Season 7
INTJs don’t just want to be entertained, they want to be intellectually challenged. They need stories that have depth, complexity, and a glimpse into the deeper workings of society—and Black Mirror is a perfect fit. Each episode of this anthology series presents a self-contained, thought-provoking story that dissects technology, ethics, and the darker sides of human nature. It’s not just a show; it’s a mental workout, perfect for INTJs who love peeling back layers to uncover uncomfortable truths. As an INTJ myself I can admit that the stories and themes of Black Mirror sit with me long after each episode ends.
Season 7 promises to bring back the sharp, speculative storytelling that made the series a cultural phenomenon. With episodes tackling everything from dystopian futures to moral quandaries around AI and surveillance, it’s the kind of series that sparks endless “what if” questions. And for INTJs, those questions are half the fun. The sequel to USS Callister—a fan-favorite episode—adds another layer of excitement, inviting viewers to dive even deeper into one of the show’s most unsettling worlds.
Black Mirror invites viewers to think critically about the trajectory of society, blending storytelling with philosophical inquiry. For INTJs, who are futurists at heart, this is as close to perfect as TV gets. This season’s premiere date is still TBA, but listed for 2025.
Other Shows INTJs Might Enjoy:
Severance (Apple TV+) – A dystopian tale exploring identity and corporate ethics.
Zero Day (Netflix) – A politically charged drama about conspiracies and leadership.
Andor: Season 2 (Disney+) – A Star Wars series rich in strategy and moral ambiguity.
ISFPs are drawn to stories that explore the raw, messy realities of human nature—and Apple Cider Vinegar is exactly that. Based on the true story of Belle Gibson, an Australian wellness influencer who built an empire on the lie that she had cured her terminal brain cancer through natural remedies, this show dives deep into themes of vulnerability, deception, and the lengths people will go to for sympathy and money.
ISFPs aren’t ones to shy away from the strangeness human nature. They’re fascinated by complicated people and by the motivations that drive them. I know so many ISFPs who love learning more about the villains than the heroes; curious about what drives people to dangerous extremes. I spoke to two ISFPs who are anxiously awaiting this series because they “love learning about the most deranged, complicated, confusing people in the world.” ISFPs will appreciate how Apple Cider Vinegar balances its critique of Instagram culture with a nuanced portrayal of the individuals caught up in it. It’s a deeply human story—flawed, emotional, and thought-provoking. This series premieres on February 6th, 2025 on Netflix.
Other Shows ISFPs Might Enjoy:
Missing You (Netflix) – A detective’s emotional journey to uncover the truth about her missing fiancé.
Dark Winds: Season 3 (AMC+) – A gripping, atmospheric drama about justice and identity the Navajo nation of the Southwest in the 1970s.
Shifting Gears (ABC) – A heartfelt dramedy about family, healing, and finding connection through restoration—both mechanical and emotional.
Every INFP I know is obsessing over the upcoming season of Stranger Things. This series is like stepping into a dream—a nostalgic, emotional, and occasionally terrifying dream. Season 5 promises the ultimate showdown between the Hawkins crew and Vecna, with the fate of the town (and maybe the world) hanging in the balance. But what makes this show such a perfect fit for INFPs isn’t just the supernatural thrills—it’s the heart of the story. The friendships. The sacrifices. The raw, messy emotions that come with fighting monsters both outside and within. For many of us, waiting for season 5 has felt interminable. I know several INFPs who will be hosting massive watch parties when Season 5 finally makes its appearance.
INFPs will be hooked on the personal journeys of the characters, from Eleven’s battle to reclaim her identity to Will’s quiet but powerful quest for belonging. It’s all about connection, resilience, and finding the courage to stand up when everything feels impossible. And let’s be real: INFPs might cry a little (or a lot), but that’s what makes it so good. The emotional depth, combined with the epic stakes, makes Stranger Things an unforgettable ride for these imaginative, empathetic dreamers. This series is set to come out in 2025, but the specific date hasn’t been announced.
Other Shows INFPs Might Enjoy:
The Wheel of Time: Season 3 (Amazon Prime Video) – A rich fantasy world filled with personal quests, emotional bonds, and the fight between light and dark.
Wednesday: Season 2 (Netflix) – A quirky, heartfelt dive into self-discovery and embracing your weirdness (with plenty of gothic flair).
Witch Hat Atelier (Crunchyroll) – A magical coming-of-age story about a young girl who dreams of becoming a witch, filled with whimsy, emotional depth, and stunning fantasy world-building.
ISTPs want a series that will be relatable while keeping them guessing with a mixture of action and suspense. Reacher hits every one of those marks. Jack Reacher is the kind of hero ISTPs admire: a no-nonsense, highly skilled loner who uses logic, observation, and sheer force to get things done. In Season 3, Reacher finds himself caught in another web of conspiracies, where his sharp instincts and physical prowess will be put to the test. The fast pacing, tactical maneuvers, and clear-cut justice make this a perfect pick for ISTPs who look for a character they can relate to without a lot of unnecessary fluff or predictability.
I’d say it’s a safe guess to say Reacher is an ISTP personality type himself. He’s clever, observant, and rational, with an eye for any threat that comes his way. This show is all about intrigue, adventure, and a little bit of chaos, which is exactly the kind of storytelling ISTPs enjoy. This series releases on February 20th, 2025 on Prime Video.
Other Shows ISTPs Might Enjoy:
Alien: Earth (FX on Hulu)
Aliens on Earth? Count ISTPs in. This series blends sci-fi action with survival tactics as a group of tactical soldiers faces off against humanity’s greatest threat: the xenomorphs. ISTPs will appreciate the high-stakes intensity, resourceful problem-solving, and thrilling fight for survival.
Sakamoto Days (Netflix)
A retired hitman turned convenience store owner who’s constantly targeted by bounty hunters? This action-packed anime delivers a perfect mix of humor and ingenuity as Sakamoto takes down enemies with effortless precision. ISTPs will love the protagonist’s resourcefulness and the fast, creative fight sequences.
The Night Agent: Season 2 (Netflix)
This political thriller about an FBI agent navigating conspiracies and high-stakes danger is perfect for ISTPs. The clever problem-solving, fast pacing, and action-packed storylines will keep them engaged and entertained.
INTP – Alien: Earth
For INTPs, Alien: Earth is a playground of curiosity and intrigue. Set two years before the events of the original Alien film, this series brings the iconic xenomorphs to Earth for the first time, sparking a cascade of scientific mysteries, corporate scheming, and survival challenges. The story explores the Weyland-Yutani Corporation’s race to develop robotic life and the terrifying implications of encountering an otherworldly threat.
INTPs will be captivated by the show’s focus on discovery, innovation, and the ethical dilemmas that come with pushing technological and biological boundaries. The tactical problem-solving of the characters, combined with the eerie, high-stakes atmosphere, offers plenty to analyze and dissect. For INTPs who love stories that challenge their intellect and immerse them in speculative possibilities, Alien: Earth is a must-watch. This series releases in the Summer of 2025 on FX and Hulu.
Other Shows INTPs Might Enjoy:
Dr. Stone: ScienceFuture (Crunchyroll) – A sci-fi adventure blending thrilling storytelling with real-world science, perfect for INTPs who love a mixture of humor, action, and intellectual wit.
Severance (Apple TV+) – A mind-bending exploration of identity, autonomy, and corporate ethics that invites deep analysis.

ESFJs love stories that make them feel like they’re part of a family. They love relationships, humor, interpersonal complexity, and characters who overcome the odds to take care of others. The Bear: Season 4 is a perfect fit, diving deep into the lives of its characters as they face the pressures of running a restaurant while navigating personal struggles and growth. Every ESFJ I know who has seen this show has absolutely loved it. I also think that Natalie (“Sugar”) is an ESFJ personality type!
At its heart, The Bear is about people coming together, supporting each other, and finding moments of humor and joy amidst an absolutely chaotic work and life situation. Whether it’s Sydney figuring out her next steps or Carmy dealing with the emotional weight of his past, the show brings both heartwarming and intense moments that will keep ESFJs engaged. The bonds between the characters feel real, and you feel emotionally invested in every character’s challenges and dreams. This series releases in June of 2025 on Hulu.
Other Shows ESFJs Might Enjoy:
Shifting Gears (ABC) – A widower reconnects with his family through restoring classic cars. It’s a warm, funny story about healing and finding joy in unexpected places.
The Pitt (HBO Max) – This real-time medical drama follows an ER doctor through the highs and lows of an intense shift, focusing on teamwork and the emotional challenges of helping others.
The White Lotus: Season 3 (HBO Max) – A mix of humor, drama, and social satire, this season explores new relationships and dynamics among a colorful group of resort guests.
ENFJ – The Wheel of Time: Season 3
ENFJs love stories that mix emotional depth with epic stakes, and The Wheel of Time is practically tailor-made for them. In Season 3, Rand al’Thor and his friends face new challenges in their battle against the Dark One. But this isn’t just about saving the world (although, yes, that’s part of it). It’s about the bonds between people—the trust, the betrayals, and the messy emotions that come with fighting destiny while trying to figure out who you are.
This season turns the dial up on the drama and the relationships. Rand struggles with the weight of being “The Dragon Reborn,” while his friends each navigate their own paths. ENFJs will connect with the mix of heart and heroism and probably find themselves deeply invested in everyone’s journey (even the villains—because they’re just that compelling). This series release on March 13, 2025 on Prime Video.
Other Shows ENFJs Might Enjoy:
Paradise (Hulu) – Imagine being Sterling K. Brown, the guy who’s supposed to protect the president, only to end up accused when that president is murdered. This political thriller is all about loyalty, justice, and who you can trust when everything falls apart.
The White Lotus: Season 3 (HBO Max) – A Thai resort filled with beautiful scenery and terrible people. This season digs into ambition, privilege, and how relationships can be both hilarious and tragic. ENFJs will love peeling back the layers of everyone’s dysfunction.
Leviathan (Netflix) – An alternate-history anime adventure about a fugitive prince and a girl in disguise aboard a bioengineered warship. The stunning visuals and emotional storylines make it a perfect pick for ENFJs who love high-stakes relationships and big-picture themes.
ESTJ – The Night Agent: Season 2
If you’re an ESTJ, you love a story that gets straight to the point. No fluff, no wasted time, just smart storytelling with swift action and a clear plot. That’s The Night Agent. Season 2 kicks off with Peter Sutherland, the man who seems to become an unfair suspect every time he wakes up, racing to stop a massive attack in New York City. It’s fast-paced, intense, and packed with the kind of no-nonsense problem-solving that ESTJs admire.
Peter doesn’t just wait around for someone else to fix things—he takes charge. He’s decisive, strategic, and deeply responsible, always trying to do what’s right for the greater good. The stakes keep climbing, and the twists will have you leaning forward like, “Okay, now what’s next?” This series releases on January 23rd, 2025 on Netflix.
Other Shows ESTJs Might Like:
American Primeval (Netflix) – A brutal survival story set in the Wild West. It’s gritty, tough, and all about building something lasting when the odds are stacked against you.
Zero Day (Netflix) – Robert De Niro plays a former president unraveling a cyberattack conspiracy.
The Americas (TBD) – Tom Hanks narrates this nature docuseries, showing the resilience of life from the Arctic to the Antarctic.
Suits: LA (TBD) – A sharp legal drama about reinvention and ambition. Think quick decisions, big stakes, and a lot of winning.
ENTJs love a good challenge, and Prime Target is like stepping into a maze of strategy, intellect, and high stakes. The story follows Edward Brook, a brilliant postgraduate mathematician on the brink of a groundbreaking cybersecurity discovery. But when his work attracts dangerous attention, he’s pulled into a global conspiracy that forces him to team up with an NSA agent. It’s a race against time to unravel the mystery, outsmart his enemies, and stay alive.
For ENTJs, this series is a goldmine. It’s all about quick thinking, bold decision-making, and navigating high-pressure situations. Edward’s relentless pursuit of solutions and his ability to think three steps ahead will resonate with the ENTJ’s own strategic prowess. The show blends action, intrigue, and intellectual challenges—exactly the kind of storytelling ENTJs crave. This series release date is January 22nd, 2025 on Apple+.
Other Shows ENTJs Might Enjoy:
The Wheel of Time: Season 3 (Amazon Prime Video) – A grand fantasy with leaders rising to meet their destinies.
Zero Day (Netflix) – A gripping political drama starring Robert De Niro as a former president leading an investigation into a devastating cyberattack.
Black Mirror: Season 7 (Netflix) – Dark, thought-provoking episodes exploring the consequences of technology.
Solo Leveling (Crunchyroll) – In a world of hunters and monsters, a once-weak hero gains the power to level up endlessly.
ESFP – The Last of Us: Season 2
ESFPs seek out emotional highs, intense stakes, and characters who fight for what they believe in—and The Last of Us delivers all of that to the max. Season 2 picks up a few years after the explosive events of the first season, with Joel and Ellie (an ISTP and an ESFP, respectively, in my opinion) now trying to build a life in a post-apocalyptic world. But, of course, peace doesn’t last long, and when a figure from Joel’s past shows up looking for revenge, everything is thrown into chaos.
What makes this show such a great fit for ESFPs is the emotional depth behind the action. Joel and Ellie’s bond is the heart of the story, and every moment feels like it matters. None of the characters are perfect, but Joel and Ellie will do whatever it takes to protect each other and themselves from a harsh, terrifying world. ESFPs will connect with the way the characters fight for love, survival, and hope in the face of insurmountable odds. Plus, the edge-of-your-seat tension and jaw-dropping twists are exactly the kind of adrenaline rush they crave. This series will be released in April of 2025 on HBO Max.
Other Shows ESFPs Might Enjoy:
Stranger Things: Season 5 (Netflix) – The Hawkins gang is back for one last showdown with Vecna. Expect plenty of action, humor, and heartfelt moments that will keep ESFPs hooked.
Watson (CBS) – A modern spin on Sherlock Holmes, focusing on his sidekick, Dr. Watson. It’s a mix of medical drama, detective work, and quirky humor.
Chad Powers (Hulu) – A disgraced quarterback goes undercover to join a struggling football team. If you loved Ted Lasso you’ll probably love this as well.
Yellowjackets: Season 3 (Showtime) – High school athletes-turned-survivors face new challenges as their past and present collide. The intense drama, wild twists, and emotional stakes make it a perfect fit for ESFPs who like a bit of horror with their storytelling.
For ENFPs, who love quirky, imaginative stories with unexpected twists, The Boroughs will be a must-watch. This series brings together a group of unlikely heroes in a New Mexico retirement community as they face an otherworldly threat that’s stealing their most precious resource: time. It’s equal parts mysterious, funny, and heartfelt—basically, a playground for ENFPs who crave stories that mix big-picture themes with offbeat characters.
The Duffer Brothers (of Stranger Things fame) describe the cast as a “lovable bunch of misfits,” which is exactly the kind of ensemble ENFPs can’t get enough of. With its blend of sci-fi intrigue, emotional depth, and unexpected humor, The Boroughs is bound to keep them hooked. Plus, the show’s focus on resilience and connection in the face of chaos resonates with ENFPs’ optimistic, people-focused nature. Release date 2025, to stream on Netflix.
Other Shows ENFPs Might Enjoy:
Solo Leveling (Crunchyroll) – A fast-paced anime with a wildly creative storyline about an underdog who becomes the most powerful hunter in the world.
Dr. Stone: ScienceFuture (Crunchyroll) – A celebration of curiosity and invention, full of humor and big ideas.
Wednesday: Season 2 (Netflix) – A quirky, gothic series that’s all about embracing individuality and solving mysteries.
Black Mirror: Season 7 (Netflix) – Mind-bending and thought-provoking, this anthology explores the weird, dark side of technology and humanity.
ESTPs love action, adventure, and stories that keep them on the edge of their seats—and American Primeval will absolutely deliver. I know I can’t wait to stream this series with my ESTP husband (it’s rare we can both agree on a show we want to watch). Set in the unforgiving American West of 1857, this series follows a group of pioneers and Native Americans navigating a clash of culture, religion, and beliefs. Taylor Kitsch plays a hardened frontiersman with a dark past, while Betty Gilpin’s determined mother fights to protect her family. Together, they face brutal challenges, build unlikely alliances, and battle to survive in a lawless land.
This show is packed with everything ESTPs enjoy: high-stakes action, bold decisions, and characters who aren’t afraid to take risks. The raw intensity and dramatic twists will keep them fully engaged, while the stunning scenery adds an extra layer of visual appeal. Release date January 9th on Netflix.

The Night Agent: Season 2 (Netflix) – A fast-moving political thriller with plenty of suspense and a hero who’s always two steps ahead.
Solo Leveling (Crunchyroll) – This anime’s high-energy action and bold underdog storyline are a perfect match for ESTPs who enjoy visually exciting storytelling.
Yellowjackets: Season 3 (Showtime) – A gripping tale of survival, secrets, and unexpected twists.
ENTP – Dr. Stone: ScienceFuture
I am 10 billion percent sure if you give Dr. Stone a chance, you’ll walk away satisfied as an ENTP. If you haven’t seen the first three seasons you’ll want to start there! This series is NT mind-candy about an ingenious scientist, Senku, who tries to rebuild civilization from scratch after a mysterious event turns all of humanity to stone. With its mix of humor, ingenuity, and action, it’s a playground of ideas, invention, and fun for ENTPs.
What makes this show stand out for ENTPs is its unapologetic love of ideas. Each episode dives into scientific concepts, making them fun and accessible while building a compelling story around survival and innovation. Senku’s unrelenting determination and curiosity capture the ENTP’s adventurous and imaginative spirit, making every scene feel like a high-energy thought experiment. Plus, the cast of quirky characters and unpredictable twists keeps the show fresh and engaging. Release date is January 2025 on Crunchyroll.

The Boroughs (Netflix) – A group of retirees battles an otherworldly threat in their small town. With its mix of humor, sci-fi, and heartfelt moments, this show’s quirky energy is tailor-made for ENTPs.
Alien: Earth (Hulu) – What happens when xenomorphs come to Earth? This sci-fi thriller blends big-picture questions with edge-of-your-seat action, ideal for ENTPs.

I love your recommendations for different types. I have found things I enjoy as an ISTP (the productivity app Todoist!), and I appreciate the explanations of things you think other types will like. Especially when it’s something I look at and wonder, “Why would anyone like that?!?!?”
About the shows you recommend for ISTPs, in general, I think you focus on things that will appeal to male ISTPs. I can enjoy action shows too. But my interest in technical detail and love of characters who find ways to be self sufficient tends to focus on more general problem solving, I absorb medical details and love animals and veterinary medicine (my complaint about the current BBC All Creatures Great and Small: very superficial and oversimplified coverage of the medical situations in the show! More guts! Fewer kisses!)
Thanks for the breadth of information and diving into the topics that help me understand myself and my friends and family in new ways!
Female old ISTP is sick of conspiracies, soldiers, bounty hunters, spies, westerns, warlike aiens. Is there entertainment that features an ISTP that fixes societal problems?
I agree with Anonymous’ comment: medical with detailed surgeries no kissing.
More like Erin Brokowitz fixing the law.
If there is to be killing let it be evil, greedy CEOs, soulless politicians. Stupid people, like the episodic SNOWFLAKES.
