The Taylor Swift Quote You’ll Relate To, Based On Your Enneagram Type

Taylor Swift is not just a global music phenomenon but also a remarkably perceptive lyricist and speaker whose words often reflect a deep understanding of human emotions and motivations. I’ve been asked at least 20 times to write an article about Taylor Swift’s Enneagram type, but it has always seemed like such a daunting challenge to me. After all, I can’t sit across from Taylor Swift and ask her personal questions to figure out her type. That would be amazing, but seems outside the realm of possibility (sad). But one thing I can do is look at her quotes and analyze the Enneagram patterns within them.

What is Taylor Swift’s Enneagram Type?

Like all individuals, Swift has elements of all 9 Enneagram types within her. She’s not just 100% one type or another. The elements I see most in Taylor’s quotes are elements of the 3 Enneatype, and other type experts have profiled her as a Three. This type is also called the Achiever or the Performer. Threes are the people who always know where they stand in their social circles, they’re always climbing the next rung on the ladder of success, and trying to do it all with finesse and charm. They are adaptable, hard-working, driven, and image-conscious. Swift’s quote, “As soon as I accomplish one goal, I replace it with another one. I try not to get too far ahead of myself. I just say to myself, ‘All right, well, I’d like to headline a tour,’ and then when I get there, we’ll see what my next goal is,” highlights the typical Type 3 focus on achieving successive goals to validate their worth and success.

This relentless pursuit of achievement not just for its material value but for the recognition that comes with them is quintessentially Type 3. Swift’s acknowledgment of replacing one goal with another upon success illustrates the Type 3 fear of being stagnant or average and their continuous striving for self-improvement and success. In fact, Swift has admitted that she fears being average. Her approach to life and career showcases a healthy balance in ambition, recognizing the importance of setting achievable goals while being flexible enough to adjust her aspirations as she progresses.

Now, let’s explore how various quotes from Taylor Swift resonate with each Enneagram type:

Type 1 – The Reformer

Taylor Swift Enneagram 1 quote about controlling anger

“If you’re yelling you’re the one who’s lost control of the conversation.” – Taylor Swift

Type 1s believe in being reasonable, calm, and righteous as much as humanly possible. They strive for integrity, often holding themselves and others to high standards. Swift’s quote here will resonate with Ones who believe in always keeping a tight grip on their emotions and being calm, rational, and controlled. In fact, sometimes Ones need to learn to let loose a little bit more.

Type 2 – The Helper

Taylor Swift Enneagram 2 quote about kindness

“No matter what happens in life, be good to people. Being good to people is a wonderful legacy to leave behind.” – Taylor Swift

Twos are the people who will drop everything to be there for you when you’re going through a crisis. At their best they are altruistic and selfless, stepping in to offer consolation, support, and empathy in life’s trials. This quote encapsulates the Type 2’s enduring commitment to kindness and legacy of positivity they aim to build through their relationships.

Type 3 – The Achiever

Taylor Swift quote about the fear of being average

“I’m intimidated by the fear of being average.”

Threes and Fours everywhere will be nodding their heads in agreement with this quote. More than anything, Threes seek out success; they want to be outstanding. Deep down, most Threes worry that without this sense of being outstanding they will be worthless. Their fear of mediocrity and drive for excellence pushes Threes to constantly push the boundaries of what’s possible.

Type 4 – The Individualist

“I know my flaws before other people point them out to me.”

Lots of people out there try to hide away from their flaws. They seek out distraction, entertainment, or compliments to make them feel “good enough.” Fours, in contrast, tend to dive ride into the deep end of their shame and their own personal flaws. This can lead them to feeling constantly flawed, not enough, or deficient in some way. Yet this deep, introspective, self-aware nature can also make them insightful, empathic, and keenly attuned to the human condition.

Type 5 – The Investigator

Taylor Swift Enneagram 5 quote

“Silence speaks so much louder than screaming tantrums. Never give anyone an excuse to say that you’re crazy.”

Fives crave understanding, knowledge, and competence more than anything. They tend to keep to themselves, learning as much as possible before testing their knowledge in the outside world. Drama and emotional over-reaction are anathema to the Five. Instead, they prefer to observe and analyze rather than lash out. Fives will relate to Swift’s quote here because they too prefer to remain calm and collected in the face of conflict or criticism.

Type 6 – The Loyalist

Taylor Swift Enneagram 6 quote

“I second-guess and overthink and rethink every single thing that I do.”

Do you ever feel like you can’t stop spiraling into worst-case scenario thinking? Like you’re always vigilant for threats or danger? This is how Sixes feel most of the time. These “Loyalists” are preoccupied with security and can be prone to anxiety and doubt. Swift’s quote perfectly captures their tendency to question their decisions and seek stability and certainty in their actions.

Type 7 – The Enthusiast

Taylor Swift Enneagram 7 quote

“My ultimate goal is to end up being happy. Most of the time.”

Type 7s are motivated by the desire to be satisfied, free, and deeply joyful. This quote embodies the Type 7’s pursuit of happiness and their optimistic approach. No matter what life hurls at them, Sevens are always trying to find the silver lining.

Type 8 – The Challenger

Taylor Swift Enneagram 8 quote

“Anytime someone tells me that I can’t do something, I want to do it more.”

Type 8s have a powerful desire to be self-reliant and to resist being controlled by others. This quote resonates with the Type 8’s desire for independence and their natural instinct to defy limitations and prove their strength.

Type 9 – The Peacemaker

Taylor Swift Enneagram 9 quote

“We don’t need to share the same opinions as others, but we need to be respectful.”

Nines at their best are open-minded, affirming, and peaceful. They try to create inner peace by having a peaceful and harmonious outer world. Most Nines, even if they disagree with someone, will try to stay respectful, calm, and curious; listening rather than arguing or trying to lash out. What Swift is saying here about respecting people who have different worldviews will certainly resonate with Nines who will try to look for what we have in common more than what makes us different.

  1. As an enneagram junkie and recent Swiftie (Delicate was the song that did it for me), I really enjoyed this article! I agree, while we can’t really know her type without knowing her on some deeper level, Three makes the most sense.

Given that, do you think she’s a Social or Sexual Three? That most agree her primary type is Three implies she might be Social, but I could see Sexual being at least her secondary instinct. Self-preservation seems a bit less likely, but who knows?
